A Fortune 100 company embarked on an effort to develop a data warehouse for accounting and sales data. Essential Strategies, Inc. was retained to assist in defining the architecture of the warehouse and in designing it. In particular, ESI did a detailed analysis of the integration of three financial input data streams, which were in different terms of reference and different kinds of time periods. It was necessary to define common terms of reference which would make it possible to bring the data together.
