Essential Strategies, Inc. is a frequent participant in various conferences and shows that take place over a year. Among the shows currently of interest to Essential Strategies clients:

Northeastern Regional DAMA Road Show
During the second week of March, 2012, David Hay will be presenting "Yes You Can Create an Architectural Data Model" to local DAMA chapters in Boston, Hartford, New Jersey, and New York City. Based on his book, UML and Data Modelng: A Reconciliation, this addresses the fundamental philosophic difference between the object-oriented design community and the business data modeling community. The vehicle for this is his tinkering with the UML Class Model notation to make it viable as a notation for what he calls "architectural" (more commonly called "conceptual" or "logical") entity/relationship modeling.
(Among other things, he will deal with the issue of naming different types of models, as well as best practices for "good" business-oriented models.)
